Ingredients
Scale
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup cold unsalted butter, grated or finely cubed
- 1 cup cold buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen, not thawed)
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a round baking dish or small skillet.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined.
- Add the cold butter and work it into the flour using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with visible butter bits.
- Pour in the buttermilk and vanilla extract. Stir gently just until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
- Scoop the dough into large mounds and place them snugly together in the prepared dish. Bake until puffed, lightly golden, and set in the center.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Spoon the glaze over the warm biscuits.
Notes
- Serve warm for best flavor.
