Description
Rich, spiced slow cooker apple butter made by gently cooking apples until deeply caramelized and smooth, creating a cozy fall spread perfect for toast, baking, or breakfast dishes.

- 5–6 large apples (mix of sweet and tart), peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
- Add the apples to the slow cooker along with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla extract if using.
- Stir well to evenly coat the apples.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours, stirring occasionally, until apples are very soft and darkened.
- Blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or carefully in a standard blender.
- Return the smooth mixture to the slow cooker and cook uncovered for 1–2 additional hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened to desired consistency.
- Cool completely, then transfer to jars or containers for storage.
