Description

Crispy Orange Shrimp is a quick dish bursting with sweet and spicy flavors. It features tender shrimp coated in a crispy exterior and a tangy orange sauce, perfect for weeknights or entertaining.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds medium to large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 orange (zested and juiced)
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce by whisking garlic, soy sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, mirin, and red pepper flakes in a bowl until combined.
  2. Pat the shrimp dry and toss them with cornstarch in a large bowl until evenly coated.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Drain excess oil from cooked shrimp on a plate.
  6. Stir the prepared sauce into the hot pan for 1-2 minutes until bubbling.
  7. Add shrimp back into the pan, tossing to coat them evenly in the sauce for about 1-2 minutes.
  8. Serve immediately garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
