Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups mashed ripe bananas (about 4 medium bananas)
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups white whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed bananas, light brown sugar, and browned butter. Whisk until smooth, then add the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together ground cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the banana mixture.
  5. Gently fold in the white whole wheat flour until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
