  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 12 tbsp water, milk or more apple cider
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together oat flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, applesauce, apple cider, vanilla extract, and eggs until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Spoon batter into cupcake liners, filling them two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 20–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cupcakes to cool before frosting with spiced buttercream.
