Description

Baked Brie with Berry Compote is a delicious appetizer that combines creamy Brie cheese with a sweet berry topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 1 cup mixed berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped (optional)
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (optional, for wrapping)
  • Crackers or sliced baguette, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Berry Compote: In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and water. Cook over medium heat until the berries release their juices and the mixture thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the vanilla extract and remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the Brie: If using puff pastry, roll it out on a lightly floured surface. Place the Brie in the center of the pastry.
  4. Wrap the Brie (optional): Fold the pastry over the Brie, pinching the edges to seal it completely. Brush with an egg wash for a golden finish, if desired.
  5. Bake: Place the wrapped Brie (or unwrapped, if you prefer) on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is soft and the pastry is golden brown, if used.
  6. Assemble: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Top the Brie with the warm berry compote.
  7. Garnish: Sprinkle with fresh mint, if desired, for an extra pop of color and flavor.
  8. Serve: Serve the Baked Brie with an assortment of crackers or sliced baguette for dipping.
